Local arts alliance seeking members

The Borderland Arts Alliance, made up of local artist of all kinds, including theatre, music, and the visual arts, is holding a membership drive at the end of the month.
All local artists, as well as those who enjoy the arts, are encouraged to join.
People who sign up can expect to participate in activities like the third-annual arts potluck that was held this past Sunday at the Backus Auditorium in International Falls.
Members networked, and also had a panel discussion on the importance of arts in the community.
“That’s our main function, to provide networking opportunities for people,” organizer Pam Hawley said.
About two dozen people turned out for the supper and discussion Sunday, but Hawley said more people are always welcome.
And the group is not restricted to artists.
“Even people who enjoy going to arts events, arts patrons [are welcome to join],” said Hawley, who also is curator of the Fort Frances Museum. “It’s a good vehicle for getting information about upcoming events.”^The Borderland Arts Alliance is in its third year now and has a strong foundation.
“We seem to have established ourselves in the community,” Hawley noted.
