Local artist gets another painting in museum

Local artist Cher Pruys’ career continues to fly high as another one of her airplane paintings is on display at the National Aviation Museum of Canada.
Entitled “Future Dreams,” it is on loan to the museum for one year.
Earlier this year, it was one of the paintings selected by a jury to be part of the Air Fight Competition held in Ottawa.
Pruys’ painting, whose subjects were her granddaughter Caitlin DeBenetti and stepdaughters Carly and Sarah Pruys, placed fourth in the world-wide competition.
Previously, this painting had the honour of being on the cover of the July/August, 2001 edition of the U.S. magazine, “Woman Pilot.”
Pruys currently also has two paintings on display in Ogden, Utah—the site of the American Aviation Art Competition. This worldwide competition also is a real accomplishment to be accepted into, she noted.
Both paintings depict scenes from Northern Ontario. One of the works, “Sandy Shores,” was chosen by the jury to be used on material advertising the show.
It portrays the Beaver aircraft—a vehicle considered by most to be the world’s greatest bush plane—on the sandy shores of a northern lake.
It is now available as a limited edition print.
This is just one of three new limited edition prints to come out from ArtByCher in the past season. The others are entitled “Norseman of the Lake” and “Brennan Lake.”
