Lions offering housing for medical trips

Val Martindale

The Lions Foundation Medical Assistance Program is pleased to announce that one-bedroom, furnished suites are available for all rural patients needing treatment or surgery in Winnipeg.
In partnership with Lions Housing at the Lions Manor (320 Sherbrooke St.), Lions clubs are able to offer accommodation to any person from Northwestern Ontario who requires medical consultation and/or treatment in Winnipeg.
For a flat rate of $75 a night, travellers may book a suite.
Family members who accompany a person in for surgery can stay at a fully-furnished suite as long as they need to be there to support the patient.
As a bonus, two meals a day are included in the dining room at the Lions Manor.
Each suite has a full kitchen, and comes with all dishes and necessary equipment, such as a microwave, toaster, pots and pans, coffee maker, etc.
Bedding and towels also are provided. Just walk in and make yourself at home.
Payment is requested upon checkout.
The suites are conveniently located in the Lions Manor, which is on the corner of Sherbrooke and Portage Avenue, making it easy to get to most major medical facilities.
Free parking at the manor also is provided.
Any requests for the use of the suite must be booked through the Lions Club contact in Fort Frances, Ann Ostby.
