Lions club welcomes new members

Press Release

The Voyageur Lions Club welcomed two new members April 4.
Jim and Larisa Curr officially were inducted by Past District Governor (PDG) Val Martindale, assisted by PDG Jim Martindale, local club president Joyce Zub, and local Lion Bill Michl.
Zub also was presented with a diamond pin from Lions Clubs International to recognize the club’s positive retention status for 2010-11.
The Voyageur Lions currently are preparing to co-host the Diabetes Expo coming up here April 18.
Club members also will be making breakfast sausages for sale on April 21—an annual fundraiser with the Emo & District Lions Club.
In other news, plans for the annual Purina Walk for Dog Guides set for May 27 already are in place.
This year, the club will be asking for “Pennies for Puppies.” This is a way to relieve all the penny hoarders out there of their redundant coins!
Pennies collected will be given to the Lions Foundation of Canada puppy-breeding facility in Breslau, Ont.
As well, the club is planning to accept the International President’s Challenge to plant one million trees world-wide.
The Voyageur Lions are hoping to be part of an event to plant 1,000 trees locally.
Details will be announced at a later date.
