The Ontario Association of Optometrists is pleased to announce the election of Dr. Bruce Lidkea of Fort Frances to its board of directors, effective Nov. 1.
Dr. Lidkea will be a key figure in developing, promoting, and implementing OAO initiatives and policies.
Dr. Lidkea is manager of a group practice in Fort Frances and also is an active participant in the University of Waterloo School of Optometry’s fourth-year extern program as a primary care clinical supervisor.
He graduated as a Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University in 1994.
Dr. Lidkea served as president of the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce in 1998 and has been a member of the Fort Frances Highlanders Pipes and Drums since 1996, serving as pipe major since 2001.
Dr. Lidkea, a father of two, also has found time to enroll in a correspondence Master of Business Administration degree from the Edinburgh Business School/Heriot-Wyatt University.
Founded in 1909, OAO is a voluntary professional organization that represents more than 1,100 individual members as it works to promote eye health and champion the role of optometrists.
