Library hosting another teen ‘open mic’

Back by popular demand, the Fort Frances Public Library is hosting another teen “open mic” next Wednesday (July 30) at 6:30 p.m.
This event has been part of the library’s teen programs on Wednesdays in the past, but this year we are doing something different—all proceeds from this summers teen “open mic” night will go towards the “Building for the Future” fundraising campaign.
Joelle Barron, a library employee who’s helped organize this event in the past, has lined up some awesome talent to start the night.
“In November, we had about 25 area teens come to the library and we wanted to duplicate that enthusiasm this summer,” noted Barron.
“There is so much local talent in the area and we wanted to provide a place for kids to showcase it.
“It is also a great opportunity to raise money for the new library,” she added.
Superstars like Alex Marusyk, Ken Kellar, and Whitney O’Donnell have taken part in past “open mic” events.
Don’t worry if you don’t pay an instrument; we need an audience, as well.
If you’re interested in participating, call the library at 274-9870.
