Library holding open house

The Fort Frances Public Library is not the same as it used to be. And head librarian Margaret Sedgwick is inviting everyone to come see how it’s changed during an open house there Thursday from 2-6 p.m.
“We celebrating all our new furnishings, the new carpeting, and the circulation desk,” she said this morning.
“And we want to thank the community for supporting all the fundraising done by Canada Safeway and ‘Friends of the Library,’” Sedgwick added.
The new carpeting was installed Sunday while the circulation desk arrived about 10 days ago. The lounge, with its book-themed furniture, has been set up since March.
Sedgwick noted the circulation desk is the most impressive part of the redecorating. “The desk allows staff to sit instead of stand. It’s much appreciated.
“It’s really something we couldn’t have done on our own,” she added, referring to how the combined fundraising efforts of Safeway and “Friends” covered the desk’s $18,000 price tag.
Refreshments also will be served.
