Library dinner/dance tickets on sale

Grab your dancing shoes and reading glasses for the annual “Friends of the Library” dinner/dance next Friday night (Oct. 25) at La Place Rendez-Vous.
The evening kicks off with cocktails at 6 p.m., and dinner at 7.
Tickets cost $30 each, which can be purchased from “Friends of the Library” members as well as at various locations around town.
“Paul Severson and Friends” will provide the music for the soiree, which raises money for various library initiatives.
“It’s very nice listening and dancing music. Some people who love to dance will be able to dance and others can simply sit and enjoy,” Evelyn Metke of “Friends of the Library” said Thursday.
There also will be a silent auction of books that head librarian Margaret Sedgwick is ordering specifically for the event.
“She always brings in a good assortment,” Metke enthused. “There are stories for all kinds of readers, and they are usually very good and make nice Christmas presents.”
Several draw prizes also have been donated for the fundraiser. “Local artists have been very generous with their gifts,” Metke noted.
Proceeds will go towards “Friends of the Library” initiatives. In the past, the group has purchased a new circulation desk, shelves, furniture, and other accessories for the library.
One of its long-term projects is a possible expansion of the library.
Metke wanted to thank everyone who helped make the dinner/dance possible.
“We’ve had such wonderful support from library staff on any project that we undertake,” she remarked.
