Want to show your love for the library this Valentine’s Day?
Why not donate baked goodies to the Friends of the Library’s annual bake sale next Friday (Feb. 13).
Friends’ president Cathy Robinson said the group has its list of volunteers who help bake for the popular fundraiser.
But when it comes to cookies, cupcakes, and other treats, the more, the merrier.
“If anybody out there wants to bake and drop it off, it would be wonderful,” Robinson remarked.
Bake sale donations can be dropped off at the library next Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
The bake sale will run Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Robinson said the Friends will be ready for customers as soon as the doors open that morning.
She noted the bake sale always does well, raising an average of $1,000 each year.
Customers not only buy goodies for themselves and their families, but often buy treats to bring back to their workplaces that day.
Usually the goodies are wrapped up and decorated with hearts and ribbons—making them perfect Valentine’s Day gifts for those with a sweet tooth.
Any goodies not sold that day will be left at the library to be sold by staff in the days following the sale until they’re all gone.
Robinson said the Friends of the Library continue to support the library by paying for “extras” which fall outside the facility’s annual budget.
This ranges from supporting children’s programming to providing refreshments for any activities held there.
The group also helps purchase equipment for the library.
A good example is several pull carts, which are used by patrons and staff alike to more easily transport books around the building.
