The Rainy River District School Board has a new chair after Atikokan trustee Michael Lewis was acclaimed to the position at last night’s inaugural board meeting for the 2010-14 term.
As the first order of business, trustees set about to elect a chair, with Lewis eventually beng acclaimed to the position.
Former chair Dan Belluz had been nominated but declined.
Meanwhile, Dianne McCormack, the new trustee for the Rainy River region of the district, was acclaimed as vice-chair.
As well, Ralph Hill, representing Alberton, La Vallee, and surrounding area, was acclaimed as the trustee rep to the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association.
Lewis, McCormack, and Hill, along with Dave Kircher, are new faces to the board.
Belluz and Marg Heyens were the two incumbents sworn in last night.
Also new to the board is Seine River First Nation Chief Earl Klyne, who will represent the area’s First Nations’ communities.
The board’s student trustee, Tamara DeGagne, had been sworn in at the beginning of this school year.
