Poverty shouldn’t be a life sentence in our community and our district.
According to the United Nations, about 25,000 people die every day of hunger-related causes in the world. This is one person every three-and-a-half seconds.
Unfortunately, it is children who often die.
Due to the economic turmoil worldwide, more than 1,100 families face poverty right here in Rainy River District. The problem is that hunger traps people in severe poverty.
They lack the money to buy enough food to nourish themselves, therefore they are weak and unable to work.
For 2009, we want to continue helping the less fortunate—but we depend on your support.
Through Lent, the Salvation Army of Fort Frances is running a campaign to support all those families in the district.
Make the season of Lent memorable by helping us to continue helping others.
