Legion ladies welcome newcomer

Clara Stainke

The general meeting of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary began with a potluck supper that was enjoyed by all.
There were 38 members present, with Diane Taggart winning the attendance draw and Jan Beazley the birthday draw.
Jan Beazley was installed as a new member and welcomed by all the Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
In other news, preparations are now underway for our annual Remembrance Day tea on Sunday, Nov. 6.
The following workshops will be done:
•Oct. 23—crafts will be made at Flinders Apartments starting at 1 p.m. (bring any craft articles you have);
•Nov. 1-2—making meat pies (9 a.m.); and
•Nov. 3-4—making cabbage rolls.
Please come out and help when you are available. It will be greatly appreciated.
We also will need servers and helpers to make the Remembrance Day tea a success.
On Remembrance Day (Nov. 11), the Legion Colour Party will march to the cenotaph.
A chili and hotdog lunch will be served downstairs at the Legion afterwards.
A reminder that the auxiliary’s monthly supper, featuring roast beef and all the trimmings, along with fresh homemade pies, will be held Friday, Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at the Legion.
Admission is $13/person and everyone is welcome.
Finally, an election of officers will be held at our next general meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Any ladies interested in joining the Legion Ladies Auxiliary are asked to contact Linda Larocque at 274-1567.
It is a great way to meet new friends and give back to the community.
