Legion ladies welcome member

Forty-two members of the Fort Frances Legion Ladies Auxiliary were present last Wednesday (March 9), when the charter was draped for Eileen Calder, who passed away in February.
Eileen joined the auxiliary in 1967 and was a very active member for many years.
President Sylvia Gunderson then conducted the initiation for a new member, Liza Perron.
As well, Heather Gunderson and Gloria Bergner were installed as the Ways and Means conveners.
Secretary Diane Taggart presented information regarding accredited delegates and resolution information for the 45th Biennial Convention, which will be held June 19-21 in Brandon, Man.
The Royal Canadian Legion Sports Foundation will be holding its 50th anniversary celebration on Aug. 20-21 at the Peace Gardens.
Josie Miller reported that there will be a planning meeting for the District 7 meeting and rally, which is being held April 1-2 in Fort Frances.
She is looking for members willing to knit dishcloths, and also asked members to donate $5 in wrapped gifts to be used at the rally.
Registration will be held on Friday, April 1 at 7 p.m., as well as on Saturday morning, in the club rooms. The registration fee of $30 includes the banquet on Saturday evening (April 2).
Lunch will be served in the club rooms at 11 a.m., followed by the meeting which will be held at 1 p.m. at Knox United Church.
The banquet will be held in Woodbury Hall at 7 p.m., with cocktails being served starting at 6 p.m.
Delores Cross was elected as a delegate, along with President Sylvia.
The attendance draw was won by Delores Cross while Josie Miller won the birthday draw.
The entertainment convener, Janet Lambert, distributed cards to Maria Slusarchuk, Liza Perron, Jan Gosman, Sandy Pruys, Helen Pohanka, and Linda Larocque, who also celebrated March birthdays.
Sick and Visiting convener Delores Cross reported on visits to sick members. She asked the members to advise her of any members who are sick or in hospital.
Margie Gibson and Leslie Bell volunteered to audit the books.
Ways and Means convener Gloria Bergner reported on activities in February and forthcoming events for March.
She advised that the monthly supper, which will feature pork roast, will be held on Friday, March 25.
