The local Legion ladies auxiliary held its general meeting last Wednesday (Jan. 12), with 40 members present.
Maureen Ricard won the attendance draw, Sue Drew the birthday draw, and Lori Mann the early-bird membership draw.
Meanwhile, eight new members—Janice Gustafson, Joan Allison, Donna Lowey, Margie Gibson, Judy Plasky, Marie Rego, Sharon McPherson, and Maureen Ricard—were initiated into the local auxiliary.

As well, first vice-president Alfreda Easton was installed into office.
A reminder that the Legion ladies will be hosting a roast beef supper on Friday, Jan. 28 upstairs at the Legion beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The cost is $13 per person, and everyone is welcome.
The auxiliary also will be catering the district dart tournament coming up Feb. 4-6.
In other news, Fort Frances is hosting the district meeting on April 1-3. Members planning to attend are asked to call Sylvia Gunderson as soon as possible.
The theme this year is “Pirates of the Caribbean,” with the first planning meeting slated for tomorrow (Jan. 18) at 7 p.m.
All members are welcomed and encouraged to come and help out. It’s lots of fun.
In other business, donations will be sent to the Sports Foundation (for transportation to the Peace Gardens) and to the Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario Legions for Scholarship Fund.
The auxiliary’s next general meeting will be held Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Legion. All members are urged to attend.
