Legion ladies approve new members

At the Sept. 9 meeting of the Br. #29 Legion Auxiliary, memberships were approved for Shelly Haney and Brenda Allen.
Sandy McKinnon was initiated and warmly welcomed.
Correspondence included an invitation to the Rainycrest fall tea while Friends of Animals sent a “thank you” for the donation.
Ida Colgan sent a letter to thanks the auxiliary for participation in the service for her brother.
Sgt.-at-Arms Yvonne Chambers reported the honour guard participated in the Sept. 7 service in International Falls.
Over the summer, they participated in eight parades.
On Sept. 18, the auxiliary and branch colour parties will be co-sponsoring a fish fry.
Yvonne also recommended the purchase of Ontario and United Nations colours, as well as new flag pikes and flag pike tops.
Ways and Means chair Sandy Pruys reported catering to the Vietnam veteran memorial service.
The auxiliary also will cater the zone branch meeting luncheon on Sept. 19 and the Italian Club spaghetti supper on Sept. 26.
Loreen Ring read a report on the 44th Biennial Convention held in Winnipeg from June 13-16. At the convention, Alfreda Easton was installed as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Manitoba-Northwestern Ontario Provincial Command.
The next convention will be in Brandon, Man. in two years.
President Sylvia Gunderson advised the auxiliary and the branch will sponsor a cutlet dinner in October.
The August birthday draw was won by Char Calder while the September birthday draw was won by Alfreda Easton.
The attendance prize was won by Sandy McKinnon.
A potluck dinner will held at the October meeting, which will be held Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. Members were reminded to bring a friend.
Alfreda also reminded the members that the annual fall tea will be held Sunday, Nov. 8.
Since the regular meeting for November would fall on Remembrance Day, it was decided to move it to Nov. 18.
