Fort Frances Legion Ladies Auxiliary to Branch 29 met on June 12, 2019 with 34 members in attendance.
Evening started with a delicious pot luck supper at 6 p.m. So many good cooks and bakers.
Meeting was brought to order at 7:05 p.m. by president Alfreda Easton, followed by minutes of the May 8, 2019 general meeting and the June 5, 2019 executive meeting being read and approved.
There were no new membership applications presented for approval.
We are pleased to have Diane Grabowski reinstated.
The Manitoba Northwestern Ontario Convention (June 14-17) was a huge success.
Many persons from other towns were present for this event. This was the first time for Fort Frances to be host for the convention which included both the Branch and the Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Colour Party School was held at 3:30 p.m. on June 16.
Looking ahead, Relay For Life will held at the Point Park this Saturday (June 22). Colour Party will lead the first lap.
A Canada Day pancake breakfast will be held from 7-9:30 a.m. at the Legion. Coast is $7 for adults $7 $3 for children five and under.
The Colour Party will march in the Canada Day parade here later that day, as well as the July 4th parade in the Falls later that week.
Honours and Awards recognitions will take place 1 p.m. on Sept. 14, 2019 at the branch. Awards followed by light lunch.
A committee is being formed to start the wheels in motion for the 2020 Gala.
Sponsorships and support includes sponsorship of fellow auxiliary member Heather Gunderson’s Relay for Life team, as well as the purchase of Relay for Life luminaries, one for “In Memory”, one for “In Honour.”
Other sponsorships include the Back Packs for Kids program and four local children’s attendance at Peace Gardens Camp.
The June birthday was Dee Ducharme, with a card to Giselle Calder, while the July birthday is Janet Lambert, with cards to Diane Grabowski, Yvonne Chambers, Dannette Allan, Wilna Meyers and Barb Everett.
The 50/50 draw was won by Dannette Allan (Lic M804470) with the attendance draw won by Margie Gibson (Lic M804470).
We are taking a well deserved break for the summer. Next regular meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019.
