The Fort Frances Lions Club has received special recognition from the Lions International head office in Oak Brook, Ill.
Local Lions Club president Albert Carrier received a diamond pin from past International president James Ross, who congratulated the club on positive membership growth in the past 12 months.
Lions Clubs around the world have been challenged to raise $150 million in the next six months to prevent a catastrophic increase in the world’s blind population.
Club members learned that in Canada, one in nine people over age 65 will develop irreversible vision loss.
Carrier, in receiving the award, congratulated members and said local Lions would continue to work hard in the area of sight conservation.
