Knox into semi-finals

Knox United Church has secured a spot in the semi-final round of the Aviva Community Fund Challenge.
The submission for its renewal project to make the building more accessible received enough votes in the initial round to finish in 14th place in the $50,000-$100,000 category.
The top 15 vote leaders in each category move directly to the semi-final round, which will run Dec. 1-10.
“Knox is appreciative of all the community support they have received with this project that will help them make their community building accessible to all with the addition of a new elevator lift,” noted Bill Gushulak, co-chair of the fundraising campaign.
While pleased with the outcome, the Knox committee now will be encouraging more people to join the cause in order to make it to the final to receive a portion of the funding up for grabs.
Gushulak said they had more than 600 supporters—and want to see that number grow in the semi-final round.
“With the strong showing from the other projects that have also qualified, [we] cannot afford to lose the support of even one voter,” Gushulak stressed.
“Knox is hopeful that supporters will share this message with as many of their contacts as possible,” he added.
To help simplify the process, new supporters are invited to e-mail knoxrenewal@gmail.com to receive a brief daily reminder to vote once December rolls around.
