The Rainy River Recreation Centre, Métis Nation of Ontario, and the Rainy River “Best Start” Hub partnered to run a kids’ cooking program after school for three weeks.
The community loved the idea and the class quickly filled up to maximum capacity.
The first class featured home-made pizza, where the children made the dough, cut all the toppings, and assisted with the clean-up duties.
“It’s amazing seeing the children work together and assist one another to prepare a meal that they can recreate and make at home with their family members,” said Rainy River rec director Jenna Yeo.
“I am so happy that the community has been very welcoming to all the new programs that the rec centre has been offering,” she added.
“This is so fun,” enthused one cooking participant.
“I cannot wait until the next class!”
