Kid-Pro sign-up goes tomorrow

Youngsters aged 10-14 who want to take part in this year’s Kid-Pro fishing tournament must register tomorrow (July 7) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Confederation College here.
Event co-organizer Diane Maxey said tomorrow’s registration day is firm because the draw for the 25-30 spots up for grabs this year will be held on Monday (July 10).
“There are only ‘x’ amount of spots and we’re hoping for lots of kids [to register for the draw],” added Maxey.
Children interested in signing up for the Kid-Pro tournament, which will be held Sunday, July 23 from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, must register with a parent or guardian.
There is no fee to participate, and youngsters will receive a copy of the tournament rules upon registering.
Those who have participated in the Kid-Pro tournament in prior years are not eligible to enter again.
The kid anglers’ whose names are drawn on Monday then will receive a phone call informing them they have been selected to participate.
A list of the names also will appear in next Tuesday’s edition of the Daily Bulletin.
As well, children who are selected in the draw must attend an orientation session on Tuesday, July 18 in order to participate (the location is still to be determined).
June Caul, who is working with Maxey to organize the event, said the Kid-Pro tournament is a wonderful experience for any child lucky enough to be selected.
“It’s a thrill to go out with the pros,” she remarked. “It’s a great experience for the kids.”
Prizes and goodie bags will be up for grabs to all the kid anglers who participate in the tournament, with the awards ceremony slated to start at 3:30 p.m. on July 23 under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina.
Any child who is unable to attend tomorrow’s registration session at Confederation College, but who is interested in participating in the tournament, is asked to call the FFCBC office at 274-0316.
