‘Just Imagine’ pledges keep rolling in

The “Just Imagine” campaign is pleased to report that more than $500,000 has now been raised to purchase a CT Scanner for Rainy River District.
Campaign chair Deane Cunningham is overwhelmed by the community support.
“The pledges are coming in daily through the mail,” he enthused. “We definitely have a very generous district!”
The campaign is aiming to raise $1.5 million by the end of January.
“The sooner the money is raised, the sooner we will have the CT Scanner,” Cunningham explained.
Wayne Woods, CEO of Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc., has indicated he’d like to have a CT Scanner in place at La Verendrye Hospital by the spring.
“The room is ready to go,” he noted. “When the pledges reach $1.5 million, we will move forward with purchasing the scanner.”
Woods also noted Riverside employees are showing their support of this project.
“Our staff have already pledged over $80,000 to date and I think that’s remarkable,” he beamed.
In related news, the public is invited to participate in Safeway’s fundraising kick-off for the “Just Imagine” campaign this Saturday (Dec. 2) from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Government officials, media personalities, and campaign volunteers will be showing their support of the campaign by bagging groceries and helping customers load their carts.
Customers will be asked to round up their bill for the “Just Imagine” campaign. Those who do will be given a “Recognition Post-It Card” to display their name in the store.
“If each customer adds a dollar or two to their grocery total, it will make a big difference by the end of the day . . . and every dollar definitely counts,” said Teresa Hazel, director of the Riverside Foundation for Health Care.
Cake and coffee will be served throughout the day, and all customers will be entered into a draw for a lovely door prize.
The “Just Imagine” raffle also will kick-off this Saturday at Safeway. The $5 ticket features a 42” plasma TV as the grand prize, with three other secondary prizes (a satellite radio with boom box, a 30 GB iPOD, and a laptop computer).
The draw date is set Saturday, Feb. 3.
Safeway employee Doug Jensen came up with the raffle idea while Howarth’s Home Centre supplied all the prizes at a reduced cost.
“It’s a great stocking-stuffer for any member of the family,” noted Hazel. “And the draw date will ensure the winner has their new TV in time for Super Bowl Sunday.”
