The fundraising campaign to purchase a CT Scanner for Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc. does not seem to have lost any speed after the holiday season as another $91,000 has been raised since Dec. 22.
Campaign chair Deane Cunningham now is looking ahead to the next milestone: $1 million.
“We’re really moving along. We’d love to have $1 million sometime this month and then we’ll really push hard to get to $1.5 million by the end of February,” he remarked.
Residents from across the district once again are showing their generosity and great support for health care in Rainy River District.
Teresa Hazel, director of the Riverside Foundation for Health Care, said the support is incredible. “It’s a joy to be working in this office right now,” she noted.
“People are always sharing kind words of encouragement and stories of why they want to bring a CT Scanner to the district—it’s heart-warming,” she added.
The “Just Imagine” campaign officially kicked off Oct. 20. More than 50 volunteers from across the district are working hard to raise awareness about the need for a CT Scanner here.
Riverside will proceed with the purchase of a 32-slice CT Scanner once the donations and pledges reach $1.5 million.
“We would love to tell [Riverside CEO] Wayne Woods to go ahead and order the CT Scanner by the end of February,” said Cunningham.
Staff currently employed in the diagnostic imaging department at La Verendrye Hospital will be trained to operate the CT Scanner.
Riverside also will ensure proper policies and procedures are established to ensure the safe and efficient use of the CT Scan.
Donations or pledges to the “Just Imagine” campaign can be made by calling the Foundation office at 274-4803 or they can be dropped-off at the Rainy River Health Centre, Emo Health Centre, or La Verendrye Hospital.
They also may be mailed to Riverside Foundation for Health Care, 110 Victoria Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 2B7.
