Communities across the country are banding together to have fun at a distance, and the Fort Frances Times wants you to join in!
Several community groups have been organizing activities called “window walks,” where individuals who are at home for work, in self-isolation or just cooped up with the kids can decorate their windows with a common theme, then parents who are looking to keep their families occupied and entertained, head out for walks or drives around town to find and count as many different houses as possible who are taking part.
The first themed Window Walk revolved around shamrocks and St. Patrick’s Day, with several homes across Fort Frances taking part.
The event has proved popular enough that an expanded schedule of different event days has been released and shared across social media.
The Fort Frances Times wants to help spread the fun and creativity of the Window Walks.
We are asking the community to join in the fun by decorating their window. Anyone who is choosing to decorate their windows, please take a photo and send it to us at tips@fortfrances.com so that we can share them online and in our paper for the public to enjoy.
And, if you happen to be out with your kids out on a Window Walk, take a picture of them on the hunt and send that in, too!
Dates and themes which have been planned across social media include:
- March 20: silly faces
- March 23: animals
- March 26: encouraging words
- March 29: flowers
- April 1: jokes
- April 4: easter eggs
So get out your craft supplies, decorate your windows, and don’t forget to snap a photo and send it in! Happy hunting!
