My belief in our community, and the desire to keep our community strong, is the principal reason I am running again for town council.
Through hard work, fairness, and dedication, I will continue advocating for an informed public, be available when someone has concerns or questions, and look out fore the best interest in our community as a whole.
With the experience and knowledge I have attained while working on council, I hope to accomplish a way to make and keep Fort Frances prosperous.
I will make informed decisions regarding our mill and wood rights that will benefit all parties involved. Even with the turmoil of losing our major employer, the mill, council was able to maintain a lower tax base.
The continuing challenge of uncertainty ahead of our town is one that I fully embrace.
I am a very dedicated individual. I enjoy my time on council and I am determined to represent you with a strong voice, keeping you informed, and not shying away from asking questions or speaking my mind when I feel strongly about something.
I am interested in maintaining and improving the growth of our community—be it business, health, social, or educational—and will work proactively with others who have a vision of making Fort Frances a viable, contemporary community to live in.
As well as being a current town councillor, some of my community involvement includes several significant past and present executive positions, including a member of the Northwestern Unit Health for 25 years and chair of the board of health for 10 years.
I also was a member of Safe Communities Rainy River District, a founding director of the Legal Aid Clinic, a member of parent councils at F.H. Huffman and Robert Moore schools (eight years), and a town councillor for six years from 1985-91.
As well, I’m a lifetime Canada Jaycee Senator, ticket master for the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, former president of the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce, and past director of the “Fun in the Sun” committee.
I have been an active resident of this community for 44 years. When I came here in 1970, I liked what I saw and the people I met, so I stayed.
Allyson and I have been married for 43 years, and it was here we chose to stay and raise our two children. We now the proud grandparents of three boys.
I believe everyone should give back something for what they take. I get a lot of pleasure living in this community and feel I have a lot to give back.
