Jam21.Net owner Dave Ashworth said he’s in negotiations as he pursues high-speed Internet access for Fort Frances.
“We’re definitely implementing it in August,” said Ashworth. “We’ve been having meetings over the last two or three weeks.”
After negotiating a lease agreement with the Town of Fort Frances to install antennae on the water tower, Ashworth has been talking with manufacturers of wireless hardware in search of the best price.
Ashworth said he will provide high-speed Internet from the U.S. to customers within sight of the water tower antennae.
“It’s going to be very quick when it happens. It will be DSL speed, up to 300 to 400 kbps,” he noted.
To date, only ISDN or 56 kbps dial-up is available in Fort Frances from Internet providers who have leased the necessary hardware from Bell.
