An inquest into the jail cell death of an Atikokan man is slated to take place in late September at the Fort Frances Courthouse.
The inquest will examine the death of Dylan Wreggitt, 21, who died Aug. 15, 2009 at La Verendrye Hospital following his arrest by the OPP.
Wreggitt was found unresponsive in his cell at the Fort Frances Jail in the early-morning hours of Aug. 15.
He was taken to the hospital, where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act, and will examine the events surrounding Wreggitt’s death.
Recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths may be made by the jury.
The inquest, which will begin Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m., is expected to last three days.
Dr. David Legge will preside as inquest coroner while Robert Young will be counsel to the coroner.
