Input sought on strategic plan

Town council and administration will be developing a strategic plan to cover the term of the current mayor and council, and they’re looking for input from the public to help them set those objectives.
They will meet Thursday, June 16 at Sunny Cove Camp starting at 9 a.m.
This will be an open meeting, facilitated by Information and Technology manager Darryl Allan.
While council did this during its previous term, this time around it will be opened up to public participation, Fort Frances CAO Mark McCaig said at Monday night’s council meeting.
Residents will be invited to submit written suggestions for ideas for initiatives to be discussed during the planning process, or they can come forward and speak during a public session slated for the June 13 council meeting.
“We had a good day the last time we did this, and we’re looking forward to another productive day and generating another plan that can become our guide for this term of council,” noted McCaig.
Encouraging the public to get involved in the process, Coun. Rick Wiedenhoeft stressed the strategic plan “is not a document that’s going to sit on the shelf.”
“Credit to our administration over the last strategic plan, they kept those objectives on the front burner and were continually bringing them forward to council meetings,” he noted.
“It is a living document, and I would encourage the public to make suggestions because this will not sit on the shelf, this will actually come to fruition, as did the last one,” Coun. Wiedenhoeft added.
“We do work with it, it is our guide,” echoed Coun. Ken Perry.
“We’ve got three-and-a-half years plus left in our term and we will make it work,” he pledged.
