The provincial government is touting the extension of municipal services to Emo’s industrial park, including more funding for the project.
The $69,171 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. comes in addition to the previously-announced $121,900 for bringing municipal services to the industrial park.
“It’s very crucial to the industrial area of our community to have that funding, we’re very appreciative of it,” said Emo Mayor Ed Carlson, noting the work already has been completed.
“It helped out a lot in getting it completely finished,” he added. “We had some shortfalls there initially, so this helps.
“Our industrial park is open for business!” Mayor Carlson enthused.
With the support, the park now can provide water, sewer, and hydro services to future industrial tenants, with the first tenant being the recently-opened abattoir.
“Our support for this initiative will promote economic growth in the Township of Emo and surrounding region,” noted Northern Development, Mines and Forestry minister Michael Gravelle, who also chairs the NOHFC.
