Icebox Radio Theater

Icebox Radio Theater will continue its tradition of a summertime variety show at the band shell in Smoky Bear Park over in International Falls today (July 30) at 7 p.m.
“Icebox Live 2008” will feature the music of local guitarist Sean Bahr, as well as several skits from the IBRT’s recent performance in the Twin Cities.
Since the show in Minneapolis was at “CONvergence,” an annual science fiction and fantasy gathering, many of the skits have a touch of the fantastic.
In “Gorblat’s Jig,” for instance, a man from Phoenix is snatched by a flying saucer only to be dumped off at a bait shop on Rainy Lake, where he learns the startling truth about alien abduction.
And the popular feature, “First Draft Playhouse,” is back with a “Star Trek” theme.
The evening also will feature the world premiere of a new play by Kenna Clayton entitled, “The Mysterious Northern Lights.”
If time allows, Karen Schickle and Jeff Adams will reprise their skit, “The Customs Guard,” which was seen recently as part of the “Summer on the Border” variety show at the Backus Community Center.
