Icebox Radio planning all-youth show

The Icebox Radio Theater of International Falls will present a special workshop production, with a cast made up entirely of performers under the age of 20, on Friday, April 18 at 7 p.m. in the Rainy River Community College theatre.
Auditions for the show, entitled “IBRT U-20/08,” will be held Monday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 1 at the RRCC theatre at 7 p.m.
Anyone under the age of 20 is invited to come audition. Actors, sound effects artists, and musicians will be needed for the show.
“IBRT U-20/08” will be a musical-variety show made up of songs, short comedy skits, and short scenes.
An all-youth show is the brainchild of IBRT artistic director Jeffrey Adams.
“We always have kids showing up for auditions but we don’t always have age-appropriate roles for them,” Adams said recently.
“By creating an entire show by and for kids, we’re hoping to give everyone who wants to perform a chance to perform,” he added.
Kids interested in learning backstage jobs, such as stage manager, audio engineer, and stage crew, also are encourage to come to auditions.
The IBRT also will need parent volunteers to help manage backstage. No theatrical experience is required.
Rehearsals for the show will be held the weeks of April 7 and April 14. A total of seven rehearsals are planned prior to the April 18 performance.
There is no fee to participate in “IBRT U-20/08” but admission to the performance will be $2 (U.S.)
