Ice show to feature medalist

Chris Mabee, a silver medalist at the 2007 Skate Canada Canadian Championships, will be coming to Fort Frances as the guest skater in the Border Skating Club’s 35th-annual ice show coming up March 31-April 1.
Mabee was born Aug. 26, 1985 in Tilsonburg, Ont. and began his skating career at age seven. He has been training at the Mariposa School of Skating with his coaches, Lee Barkell and Doug Leigh.
Mabee currently competes in both national and international events. Back In October, he competed in Hartford, Conn. at Skate America, and then the Cup of Russia in Moscow on Nov. 23-26.
Last month, Mabee was off to the Four Continents competition and then the worlds after that.
While in Fort Frances, Mabee will be holding a seminar, which is open to members of area skating clubs. Those interested in attending are asked to contact the Border Skating Club for more information.
The Border Skating Club’s ice show this year will be an interpretation of the movie, “High School Musical.”
The first performance will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, with a matinee to follow Sunday, April 1 at 2 p.m.
Both performances will take place at the Ice for Kids Arena.
Advance tickets are available at the front desk of the Memorial Sports Centre, as well as at Skates & Blades. Tickets also will be available at the door.
