How to help: Rainy River flood 2022

Sandbagging efforts are in full swing across the District. Volunteers are needed and welcome.

The Town of Fort Frances sandbagging is taking place at the municipal yard on 5th Street, Monday- Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Volunteers are asked to register with Town Staff at the Animal Shelter building.

Couchiching First Nations is also seeking volunteers to fill sandbags. Volunteers are asked to meet at the fire hall, behind the gas station.

The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry has extended the current flood warning in the Fort Frances District until June 3. It may be extended again at that time. Rainy Lake has surpassed 2014 flood levels, and is on track to exceed the existing record, set in 1950.
