“Let’s Speak Ojibwe” Baby Time on March 16 will feature special guest Shy-Anne Hovorka.
She will be visiting the area, and we are so excited that she’ll be spending some time with us at the library.
A new mom herself, Hovorka has a new song and video, “Boob, not the Bottle,” outlining the benefits of breastfeeding (you can check it out on YouTube).
Hovorka’s 2014 album release entitled “Bones” captured three 2014 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards for Best Country Album, Single of the Year (“Be Your Girl”), and Best Album Design.
She also won the coveted 2014 APCMA “Entertainer of the Year” award.
Hovorka holds Honours Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education degrees, and currently is working on her Masters of Education.
When Hovorka is not touring as a solo, band, or symphony act, she is a highly-regarded school teacher who works with youth in her community to help them improve their lives through music.
She also continues the important tradition of teaching the Ojibwe language or being out on the land reconnecting with the Earth.
This special Baby Time event, which starts at 10:30 a.m. next Thursday, is free and open to the public.
