The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service responded to a residential fire late last night on the 1100 block of Colonization Road West.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 11:30 p.m., the department reported this morning.
They got a quick “knockdown” on the blaze, but the residence sustained considerable interior fire and smoke damage (“knockdown” is the first phase of fire suppression when firefighters squelch the flames with water to avoid fire spread).
Firefighters remained on the scene until about 4:30 a.m.
No one was home at the time of blaze, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
In other news, firefighters responded to an outdoor fire Wednesday evening at a residence on the 600 block of Scott Street.
Fire suppression was necessary but no structures burnt.
