A fire in a bedroom closet caused a scare for a local resident.
Firefighters were called to 406 Third St. E. around 11:15 a.m. on Friday.
“On arrival, firefighters saw smoke coming from the house,” Fort Frances Fire Chief Steve Richardson said this morning.
The fire was located in a bedroom closet and took less than 15 minutes to extinguish.
“Fire damage was contained to the bedroom of origin, but there was some smoke and heat damage in the rest of the house,” Chief Richardson noted.
Investigators are still trying to work out a damage estimate. The cause of the fire has been listed as undetermined at this point and is still under investigation.
“There are a couple of things we are looking at and we don’t want to rule them out at this point,” Chief Richardson said.
No one was hurt in the blaze as the homeowner discovered the fire and got out of the house before firefighters arrived.
