The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service responded to a single-storey house fire on the 200 block of Sixth Street West around 11 a.m. yesterday.
Fire Chief Gerry Armstrong said yesterday afternoon the cause of the blaze in not known, and is being investigated.
“There was significant fire damage. Certainly not a total loss, but significant damage,” he noted.
No one was home at the time of the fire, which “obviously had been smouldering for some time,” added Chief Armstrong.
Firefighters had no problems extinguishing it, he noted, adding they were on scene for about two hours.
