A month from their AGM in June, LaVerendrye General Hospital Auxiliary is looking for people to fill the positions of president, vice-president, and special events coordinator.

Interim president Irene Laing says she isn’t sure what might happen if the roles aren’t filled by then. They need someone who is organized and cares.

Laing says the role of president isn’t a very difficult job; chairing the meeting, setting the agenda.

If anyone wishes to know more about the positions, contact Laing at 274-9560.

The Auxiliary is a volunteer-run organization that fundraises for LaVerendrye Hospital to purchase equipment.

“We want to have the best possible health care that we can in our small community,” says Laing. “So if it needs extra funding to help to create that, that’s what we’re trying to do.”

They generally run about four events every year — the Strawberry Social, Fall Tea, Spirit of Christmas, and Rockin’ for a Reason. Since the Auxiliary’s foundation 70 years ago, Laing suggests donations total close to $2 million.
