Hospital auxiliary holds annual tea

The Emo Hospital Auxiliary held its annual tea and bazaar at the Emo Legion last Friday afternoon.
It featured an excellent display of baked goodies, including homemade pies, as well as crafts, canned fruit, reading books, children’s clothing, plants, and the penny table with some 20 items up for grabs.
Workers at the draw table included Adelia Guba, Thelma Hansen, Gladys McLean, Dixie Kivi, and Mary Bottenfield.
Greeting people at the door were Mary Gavin and Edith Haw, who had everyone register for the door prize. It was won by Shirley Bell.
Ladies from different organizations from the surrounding communities helped serve refreshments and work in the kitchen, which proved to be a great help for the auxiliary.
Dorothy Haines made sure my attention was drawn to the table manned by the local palliative care committee, which is endorsed by the hospital auxiliary for its fine work in the district.
Palliative care volunteers, or PALs, are trained to provide support at home, in hospital, or extended care facilities to individuals and families coping with a life-threatening illness.
They are caring people who listen to your concerns and spend precious time with you.
If you or someone you know could benefit from a PAL, call Laurie Cole in Fort Frances (274-9858 ext. 229), Janet Loney in Emo (482-2585), or Marilyn McAlister in Rainy River (852-3979).
The regional co-ordinator is Wilma Sletmoen (274-9983).
If unable to reach the above, call 310-INFO (310-4636) and leave your name, address, and phone number. A co-ordinator will contact you as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the penny table was looked after by Loraine Bullied and Molly Crozier.
