The new executive of the La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary met on Sept. 5 and a plan for the coming year was developed.
Our first major event will be the annual fall tea on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 2-4 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship Church, with admission to be $5.

The fall tea is a time to renew your auxiliary membership and reconnect with other members. It is a welcome and anticipated event to get the new year started and renew your commitment to supporting health care.
New members are encouraged and always welcome.
We will have the usual bake table, cookie walk, and “Lucky Dozen” draw. We also will be selling 50/50 Christmas draw tickets and hope to have one or two other raffles to entice your attendance.
Sandwiches and dainties will be served, along with coffee, tea, and juice, and everyone is welcome to attend.
We also will be announcing our projected capital purchases to the Riverside Foundation for Health Care for the next fiscal year.
Last year, we purchased a whirlpool tub for the second floor and a lounge chair/bed for the maternity ward, which also can be used in the palliative care area if needed.
It was decided to do the “Spirit of Christmas” on alternate years. As such, we will focus our fundraising on the 50/50 Christmas draw this fall.
Irene Laing graciously has offered to convene the draw.
Ticket-sellers will be contacted. Please donate your time to this worthy project (it would be wonderful if each member could sell at least two books of tickets).
Ticket cost $2 each, with the draw to take place at the auxiliary’s Christmas luncheon in December.
The hospital auxiliary also is planning a bakeless bake sale in December.
Because staff enjoy the “real” bake sales, we also are hoping to have a small bake sale just for them. So, when you start baking, remember the sale and make another loaf, pie, or batch of goodies.
February will see the Staff Appreciation Coffee Break. Our social director, Diane Glowasky, will be convening this event.
Staff always appreciate the treat (again, we will need some bakers).
In May, it’s once again time for “Rocking for a Reason.” Dixie Badiuk convenes this event but is looking for someone to take over convening and is willing to help for this year.
This is another of our major fundraisers. Think about it and let her know.
We also need folks to raise money through pledges (sheets for pledges will be distributed closer to the event).
June sees our annual “Strawberry Social.” This is an event that pretty much runs itself because our co-conveners are just plain good at what they do.
If you have never participated, think about it. It’s a lot of fun and a great fundraiser!
As well as all these special events, we continue with the pull tab lottery. Dixie Badiuk convenes this project and presently is looking for folks to sell tickets (if interested, please call her).
The gift shop also operates Monday to Friday from 12:30-3:30 p.m.
Quarterly luncheons will continue on the second Monday of September, December, and March, then will culminate in June with our annual general meeting.
Please purchase tickets in a timely manner and monitor the location of the event.
