The Muskies are getting pumped up for Homecoming 2000 this Friday against Kenora and there’s no denying it.
“We will be juiced,” enthused Mark Mercure, a defensive back on the football team and president of the student executive council. “It is just a big fun day for the football guys and the school.”
Mercure, who is unable to play in the game due to a broken leg he suffered in the Muskies’ exhibition win over Gilbert earlier this month, noted everyone is usually pretty pumped up and that more fans attend this game than any other.
“We get out of school for it–this is a game that everyone comes out for,” said Mercure. “Sometimes the grade eights from other schools come out to watch the game.”
“I know that we will beat Kenora. We stomp on them whenever we play them,” enthused lineman Dusty Gray.
“The players are always looking forward to Homecoming,” agreed co-coach Greg Allan. “We won’t be pushing them to play any harder–we expect the best out of them in every game–but this game is a special time for our senior players.”
Allan noted the seniors may see more playing time because it will be their last Homecoming.
Events will start with the pep rally and parade at 11:20 a.m., with the opening kickoff at 1:30 p.m. at Westfort field.
