Hip Hip Hooray donates cash for physio-therapy

The proceeds from the 10th-annual Hip Hip Hooray walk were officially donated to three good causes last week, including the local physio-therapy department at La Verendrye hospital.
Every spring, a number of participants walk for charity and this year the group managed to raise $4,400 in donations.
Of that, half went to the Canadian Orthopedic Foundation in Toronto, a quarter went to the physiotherapy department at Rainycrest Home for the Aged, and the remaining quarter went to the physiotherapy department at the hospital here.
A check for $1,096 was handed to the hospital in a presentation last Friday.
“I know a lot of this stuff is pretty expensive so we want to help out a bit,” noted Jenny Wonfor, the Hip Hip Hooray chairperson.
Last year, Hip Hip Hooray purchased a new exercise bike for the hospital’s physiotherapy department.
“We want to thank everybody who helped us–sponsors, service clubs and anybody who took part,” added Wonfor.
Organizers will determine later this year whether there will be an 11th Hip Hip Hooray Walk.
This year’s walk went from the Sister Kennedy Centre to the Sorting Gap Marina and back on May 29.
