A workshop, “Hearing Voices That Are Distressing,” will be held twice next month.
But if you want to attend, you need to sign up soon.
The Fort Frances branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association is holding the three-hour workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 5 and again Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Northwest Community Legal Clinic (206 Scott St.)
According to the CMHA-FF, this workshop will help mental health professionals, family members, and friends to understand the challenges that face people with psychiatric disabilities.
During the three-hour session, participants have the opportunity to briefly experience what it is like for people who hear voices and how difficult it can be to complete everyday tasks.
This workshop is intended for anyone who works with or cares for people who have a psychiatric disability, including police, ER staff, first responders, students, teachers, psychiatric and other practitioners, family members, mental health staff, and civic groups.
The workshop is free but pre-registration is required by calling 274-2347 ext. 220.
