The Northwestern Health Unit is pleased to announce the establishment of an annual bursary for students across the region.
The Carl Lindstrom Bursary is a regional bursary, to be administered by the health unit, consisting of two annual awards of $500.
It is available to students who are residents of the health unit’s catchment area, which extends from the Manitoba border east to Ignace and Pickle Lake.
Applicants must be students entering or returning to full-time post-secondary studies leading to graduation in a profession or field associated with the delivery of public health programs or services at an accredited post-secondary or professional institution.
The bursary was made possible by a bequest from the estate of Roy Carl Lindstrom, a former resident of Kenora.
In addition to providing monetary assistance for Northwestern Ontario students, the health unit hopes its bursary program will be a vehicle for encouraging interest in career opportunities in the field of community and public health.

The deadline for 2009 applications to be received by the Human Resources officer is May 22.
