Handbell choir starting up again

Diane Maxey’s handbell choir will begin meeting again next Tuesday (Sept. 18) at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church here, and both past bell ringers and newcomers are encouraged to come out and give it a try.
“Basically, what I want to do is possibly start two groups—one more advanced who are music readers and move a little more quickly, and then beginners who are not quite as confident in being able to start,” Maxey noted Monday.
The group will continue to meet at 7 p.m. each Tuesday at the church, but may be split into two sessions—an early and late one—depending on the number of interested members.
“I don’t know how many people will come out, but everyone that was there before hopefully will return, as well as any newcomers who have an interest,” said Maxey.
“Everybody is welcome to come out,” she stressed.
Looking further ahead, Maxey is hoping to have the bell ringers all ready to perform with her Choraliers during their perennial Christmas performances.
