In addition to giving out candy to costumed kids on Hallowe’en, local residents also will be visited by Fort Frances High School students looking for non-perishable food items to give to a good cause.
The group—the Fort Frances Mobilizers—once again will participate in an event called “Hallowe’en for Hunger” by collecting food items door-to-door.
“We will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items instead of candy the night of Hallowe’en,” noted Dexter Fichuk, adding the donations will go to the local Salvation Army.
Last year, the group collected more than 2,000 items, with Fichuk saying they’re hoping to collect at least that many this Hallowe’en.
He wants residents to be aware of the campaign so they can be prepared with food items at their door, along with the candy for the little ones.
“We are very grateful when people have donations as they all go to our local Salvation Army,” Fichuk said.
Those who won’t be at home on Hallowe’en night are encouraged to drop off their donations at the Salvation Army the following day.
