Br. #29 of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary met last Wednesday (Nov. 18), with president Sylvia Gunderson chairing the meeting.
As the first order of business, Colleen Vennechenko was approved for membership.
The Sgt.-at-Arms report indicated the colour party had attended ceremonies on Nov. 11 at Robert Moore School as well as at the cenotaph in Fort Frances.
The birthday draw was won by Grace Armstrong, Dylinda George won the membership early-bird draw, and Janet Lambert won the attendance prize.
Door prizes were won by Loreen Ring, Sylvia Gunderson, Dot Cupp, and Gloria Bergner.
Delores Cross indicated she had sent sympathy cards to members’ families, as well as flowers to sick members.
Sandy Pruys reported a busy time as members were involved in making cabbage rolls, meat pies, and perogies for the Remembrance tea, as well as preparations for the Remembrances Day lunch.
She also indicated a number of catering events are upcoming.
Alfreda Easton reported on another successful Remembrance tea (held Nov. 8), and thanked the members for their hard work and donations.
Br. #29 president Norris Piccinato and First Vice-President Bob Boland then attended the meeting to conduct the election.
The slate of officers for 2010 will be Sylvia Gunderson (president), Alfreda Easton (first vice-president), Loreen Ring (second vice-president), Diane Taggart (secretary), and Helen Pohanka (treasurer).
Linda Larocque (membership), Josie Miller (social), Sandy Pruys (ways and means), Delores Cross (sicking and visiting), Barb Everett (publicity), and Janet Lambert (entertainment) will be the committee chairs.
Following the election, Piccinato then inducted the executive and committee chairs.
The next meeting of the Legion ladies auxiliary will be the Christmas meeting and gift exchange on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
Cocktails will be at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6.
