As of press time today, the FFHS Medical Responders were about 1,000 votes behind two other semi-finalists–the Matawa Learning Centre’s Good Neighbour Program and the Black Sheep Mountain Bike Club’s kids’ mountain bike trail.
Both of these semi-finalists are from Thunder Bay.
The local group has to be one of the top two vote-getters to receive funding.
Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. (EST) on Monday (June 11).
Winners will be announced on June 14.
As previously reported, the FFHS Medical Responders were selected by a panel of judges as one of five semi-finalists in the running to win $5,000.
The funds are needed to update their equipment and add a defibrillator to allow the group to continue to volunteer to provide first aid coverage and injury prevention awareness for community events.
