Town council will hear a presentation tonight from the Rainy River District Stewardship regarding the labelling of trees.
Spokesman Tony Elders will address council regarding permission to affix small labels to local trees as part of cultural heritage tree project.
While the stewardship was granted access to the town’s GIS data to complete the project back on Feb. 9, a second request to label the trees was denied.
Elders will be asking council to reconsider its decision.
The committee of the whole will meet first at 5:30 p.m., with the regular council meeting to follow.
The agenda also will include:
•a recommendation re: a request from the Fort Frances High School “Chem-Free” Grad Party;
•a recommendation re: an advertising request from 93.1 The Border for the upcoming Dudley Hewitt Cup;
•a travel expense claim for Fort Frances CAO Mark McCaig, a travel expense and per diem claim for Mayor Roy Avis, and a per diem claim for Coun. Ken Perry;
•a report re: the awarding of a tender for the supply of three pick-up trucks;
•a request from 65176 Ontario Inc. (Chad Avis) re: land described as Part 1, Plan 45R3119;
•a request from the Rainy River Future Development Corp. re: the “Harmony of Nations Music Festival”;
•a request from Rainy River District Victim Services Program to proclaim April 19-25 as “National Victims of Crime Awareness Week” in Fort Frances;
•a request from Tracy Oliver, project co-ordinator of Canada 150 Mosaic, re: a participation opportunity;
•a bylaw to authorize the sale of certain municipal lands (industrial park) to Tom Veert Contracting Ltd.;
•a bylaw to establish tax ratios for prescribed property classes; and
•a bylaw to amend certain user fees (i.e. three-month locker fees at the Memorial Sports Centre).
