‘Grandstand Jam’ offers chance to win recording session

Do you have the kind of voice that makes the birds come down from the trees? Do you have visions of stardom in your sleep?
If so, all you bathtub baritones and shower sopranos out there will have a chance to see what you’ve really got at the annual “Grandstand Jam” in Emo on July 1.
The competition is open to anyone aged of eight and 19. The registration deadline is May 23.
Co-organizer Renée Martin said the contest will be restricted to 20 finalists in two age categories.
“If there are more than that [20], we’ll have to hold auditions to determine the finalists,” she noted.
The important thing, Martin stressed, is to get your applications in early to have the best shot.
The top finishers in each category will win a session in a Fort Frances recording studio, where they will wind up with a professional-quality CD of their work.
Adults need not apply. “We’re really doing this for the kids,” Martin explained.
Registration forms are available at Sight and Sound in Fort Frances, KGB Sports in Rainy River, Tompkins Hardware and the Village Variety in Emo, and Dalseg’s Food Town in Nestor Falls.
They also are available by contacting Martin (482-3055) or Candy Greengrass (483-1252).
