Good Friday breakfast tickets going on sale

The local Kiwanis Club once again will be holding a Good Friday breakfast this year, with tickets going on sale Monday.
The breakfast will take place Friday, March 25 at 8 a.m. at La Place Rendez-Vous.
Tickets cost $15 each, which will be available at Green’s Brandsource and Lidkea Optometry, as well as Kiwanians Robin Wright and Diane Maxey.
Maxey, one of the breakfast’s organizers, said the sooner people buy tickets, the better.
The breakfast, which was started here back in 1994 by Kiwanis past governor Ken Koprowski, regularly draws 120-plus people—and sometimes has been sold-out with as many as 200.
Knowing how many people are coming also helps Rendez-Vous staff prepare, Maxey noted.
She also said it’s likely people won’t be able to buy tickets at the door.
As in past years, there will be a full breakfast buffet featuring eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and more.
Rev. MJ D. Leewis-Kirk of St. John’s Anglican Church will be the guest speaker this year.
There also will be live music.
For those who have not attended the Good Friday breakfast before, Maxey said the event is non-denominational and everyone is welcome.
She added the entire event is “concise” and should wrap up by 9:30 a.m., leaving plenty of time to spare before any other Good Friday services people may want to attend.
In related news, the Kiwanis and “The Shops on Scott Street” will be holding the third-annual Easter “Egg-Stravaganza” on Scott Street on Saturday, March 26 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Children will get maps and go from business to business to collect candy.
Starting locations will be in the parking lot between Pharmasave and From the Grind Up, at the Fort Frances Museum, and at the parking lot near BDO and Shoppers Drug Mart.
Kids will go to one of these location to pick up their map indicating the list of participating businesses to stop at.
The Easter Bunny, meanwhile, once again will be at Lidkea Optometry, where people can bring their own cameras.
Hotdogs and coffee also will be available in front of the museum for a nominal fee.
As well, the Fort Frances Choraliers will perform its Easter cantata on Sunday, April 3 at 3 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship here.
An encore performance then is slated for Sunday, April 10 at 3 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls.
Everyone is welcome and free-will offerings will be accepted.
